Jamshid Damooei, Ph.D. President
Dr. Jamshid Damooei is a professor of economics, chair of the Department of Economics, Finance, and Accounting at California Lutheran University, and co-director of the Center for Leadership and Values in the School of Business.
The former Director General of the Bureau of Economic Studies and Policies of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance of Iran, Dr. Damooei also served as a senior economist for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and continues to serve as a UNDP and UNOPS consultant. He is a frequent public speaker on various economic and social issues and is a well-respected commentator for the Los Angeles Times, Ventura County Star, CBS 2, KCAL 9, NPR/KCLU, and KIRN.
He holds a Masters of Science and Ph.D. in economics from Surrey University in England. He also received a Masters of Philosophy in economics from the University of London. |

Alidad Damooei
Vice President
Mr. Alidad Damooei has helped to execute research projects with Damooei Global Research since 2003. He has particular expertise with the statistical and quantitative applications used for data processing and analysis. Mr. Damooei has written deliverable studies for nonprofit and public sector clients. In addition to his work with the firm, he has experience in the financial services industry having worked for UBS, Merrill Lynch, and Bernzott Capital Advisors.
Mr. Damooei holds a B.A. in economics from Columbia University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. |

Depending on the needs of our clients, Damooei Global Research will invite the partnership of other experts in appropriate fields from its extensive list of academic and business contacts. These professionals come from a variety of backgrounds. In the past we have collaborated with seasoned experts with specializations in utility economics, international finance, quantitative analysis, public health, and organizational management.
Additional support is provided by a pool of research assistants. Most of the research staff is composed of individuals who are currently pursuing graduate studies in economics, finance, or business management.

Gerhard Apfelthaler, Ph.D.
Dr. Gerhard Apfelthaler specializes in issues regarding business management. He currently serves as a professor of International Business and International Management at the School of Business at California Lutheran University and as a senior partner at AT Consult, a consulting firm focusing on issues relating to international business development with a presence in Europe, the United States, and Asia.
Dr. Apfelthaler’s prior leadership experiences include serving as the Chair of the Department of International Management at FH Joanneum University of Applied Sciences in Graz (Austria) and as the Dean of International Business Studies at FHS Kufstein Tirol. He also has public sector experience having worked as Commercial Attaché to the Austrian Embassy in Singapore as Austria’s Deputy Trade Commissioner to the United States. He is well respected in his area of expertise having published several books, textbooks, and academic articles both in Europe and the United States.
Dr. Apfelthaler earned his doctorate in Economics and Social Sciences from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. Dr. Apfelthaler is a member of the Academy of Management, the Academy of International Business, the Strategic Management Society, and the German “Verband für Hochschullehrer Betriebswirtschaft”. |

Somnath Basu, Ph.D.
Dr. Somnath Basu is a professor of finance at California Lutheran University and the Director of the university's California Institute of Finance. Dr. Basu is also a Professor of the Helsinki School of Economics' Executive MBA Program.
Dr. Basu is an award-winning teacher and an extensively published academic in the field of investments and financial planning. He has significant consulting experience with U.S. Fortune 100 companies and an advisor to institutional money managers. Dr. Basu is actively involved with financial planning organizations including the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE), the CFP Board of Standards, International CFP Board, and the FPA. His book (with Block and Hirt), Investment Planning for Financial Professionals is widely used by financial planning education programs across the country.
Dr. Basu earned a B.A. in economics from the University of Delhi, an MBA (Finance) from Marquette University, and a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Arizona. |

Daniel Jordan, Ph.D.
Dr. Daniel Jordan is a California licensed and nationally board certified psychologist. He has 30 years of experience working in health and human services public policy. Dr. Jordan is a Research Psychologist with the Ventura County Health Care Agency where he conducts research, systems development, and evaluation and management support. He is also Dean of Social and Political Psychology at the International University for Graduate Studies at St. Kitts & Nevis, BWI, in addition to teaching sociology at Ventura College. Dr. Jordan is interested in issues of social and global justice and stresses these concerns in all of his work. |

Zareh Marselian, MBA
Mr. Zareh Marselian is the Senior Director for Information Technology (IT) at California Lutheran University. His professional background includes over 18 years of management in information technology including project management, provisioning, and hands-on support of IT in higher education, telemedicine, and business systems for the defense industry. Mr. Marselian has worked on a variety of proposals to provision IT infrastructure for universities, rural IT requirements, and defense installations.
Mr. Mareselian earned a B.A. in economics and a B.S. in computer information management from UC San Diego. He earned his M.B.A. at California Lutheran University. |

Larry Potischman, MBA
Mr. Potischman is an experienced professional with broad management and consulting experience in the telecommunications, healthcare, and energy industries. He spent over 25 years with Verizon providing expertise in economic, financial, and competitive analyses. He moved into the healthcare industry with Blue Shield of California and healthcare consulting with the Creative Research Center.
Mr. Potischman is currently consulting with the Economic Research Center for the government of Thailand instituting a regulatory structure for the telecommunications industry. He co-founded a green energy company that provides solar and energy consulting services to medium and large organizations. In addition to analyzing customer energy demand and providing green energy solutions, Mr. Potischman provides financial and economic analyses of the industry to end users.

James Valadez, Ph.D.
Dr. James R. Valadez is a professor and chair of the department of educational leadership at California Lutheran University. Dr. Valadez’s expertise is in research design, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and program evaluation.
Dr. Valadez has published widely in the area of educational sociology, educational leadership, and policy analysis of educational organizations. He has produced journal articles on immigrant education, school-university partnerships, and the implementation and use of educational technology in K-12 schools. Prior to his professorship at California Lutheran University, he served on the faculty of the University of Washington, North Carolina State University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Valadez earned a Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He also holds a Master’s degree in Biology from UCLA and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
